Kraak & Smaak

You know the feeling when you hear a song that is very familiar, but don't know the name of the artist or the song. I had it so many times. And finally I know that song, that album!

Kraak & Smaak is a Dutch dj trio that is formed by Mark Kneppers, Oscar de Jong and Wim Plug. I would almost say that they are some of the best dj's that mix soul, funk and jazz. They became more known when their songs were played in big tv series like Grey's anatomy and CSI. They have such a good sense of mixing tunes! The song that caught my ears first time was "Mambo solitario". It is this song that you could play very loud in a hot summer evening when the sun is going down and you can hear the birds. This song makes me think summer.

Kraak & Smaak - "Mambo solitario"

This next song has very very stylish vocals that remind me a little bit Astrudo Gilberto and "Girl from Ipanema". Love the trumpets and keyboard in this.

Kraak & Smaak - "Danse macabre"

Astrudo Gilberto and Stan Getz - "Girl from Ipanema"

She has such a grace in her singing. Check also the full version of the song. It's maybe the best bossa nova song that I know.

Back to Kraak & Smaak. They have released four albums. Their first album was "Boogie Angst" (2005), "The remix sessions" (2007), "Plastic people" (2008) and "Electric hustle" (2011). One other great hit among the others from "Boogie angst" is "Jolie Banane".

Kraak & Smaak - "Jolie Banane"

And the funky soul, or very soulful funk song.
Kraak & Smaak - "Hello Big Mama"

Kraak & Smaak - "No sun in the sky"

Kraak & Smaak - "One of  these days"

This next song came a huge hit. It's from "Plastic people" album. It has also awesome video!

Kraak & Smaak - "Squeeze me"

Kraak & Smaak - "California roll"
There was no better video for the song, so put this.

Kraak & Smaak - "Man of constant sorrow"

This one is also amazing:
Kraak & Smaak - "Cornered"

Check also "Il Serpente", "Ain't gonna take it no more", "To everyone who has".
