One ambient

Ambient. I should listen more of it. Forgot how beautiful it can be.

Midsummer - Juhannus

The midsummer day is just around the corner! It's going to be 23th June this year! It's a very big day in Finland. People celebrate the longest day of the summer. People go to their cottages, make vihta out of small branches of birch tree. Go to sauna, swim in the lake, burn a big bonfire in the evening!

This is my Midsummer song! It's a very special song for me. It represents at the same time lot of the Finnish things that are special and make it special! Have a good Midsummer! Enjoy the summer!

Kitch is sometimes beautiful!

Paradisio - "Bailando"

But with kitch you can also bring out an important message! This next one is good example of it.

Total eclipse of the heart

I saw long time ago a commercial. A yoghurt commercial. The best yoghurt commercial I have ever seen. Just great! So here is the commercial and the orginal song!

Bonnie Tyler - "Total eclipse of the heart"

I found a cool and beautiful music video. Don't want to spoil more. Didn't want to put the embedded video here because the stop frame that was being showed gave the idea away. And wanted also to re-post one song from Emika!

Banzaï Lab

Banzaï Lab is a French record label. I just discovered one great compilation album. Normally I don't really like compilation albums because they almost never make it. It is called "Banzaï Lab #5". There some hip hop, swing (but really good one) and electro. Nice mix of stuff!

Keep it cool! Ha ha!

Music republic

Music republic was already some time ago. It was the first bigger dance even outside.
Starter of the summer. There was a quite big line-up and four different stages. Mainstage, Herr Zimmerman tent, Warehouse and I love urban stage. It was nice that there was so variety to choose from. Main stage was bit more dancy with names like RoogMark Knight, Michael Mendoza, Gregor Salto and Lucien Foort. It was fun to dance out in the sun with other people and the music was enough loud but not too loud.

My favorite by far was the Herr Zimmerman tent where they played more techno and harder dance music. With artist like D-R-U-N-K (Motor), Franz & Shape, Fraulein Z, Zombie Nation and Eron Alkan. I was impressed by DRUNK and the italian duo Franz & Shape who had some great music and the best was Fraulein Z. She had such a minimalistic way of dj'ing. It was fun to watch because she barely moved with the music, even though she played some awesome hard dance and techno. And smiled very discreet. Some people said that she was the most dead dj performing wise, but I found her style awesome. She plays this super loud music and has the moving energy like she would be doing gardening on Sunday morning. Not hasting anything, taking her time, keeping everything under her control. But I mean this in a good way! It was awesome and made me happy! She gives the space for music. Even though there was such a well known name as Zombie nation after her I still totally felt like she should have played one hour more. It was such a good energy on the dance floor, everybody was dancing and jumping around. She actually gathered the biggest group of dancers.

Only thing that was a minus was that the stages were too close by each others so then in one point you could hear three stages.

Here's a short clip of Fraulein Z at Music Republic

Check his SoundCloud here:

Herr Zimmerman is a concept for parties they keep. Herr Zimmerman is actually sort of a space cat that always is present at the parties in his flying ufo or in the music videos.

Here is the soundcloud link for Fraulein Z:

Here's a short clip from Herr Zimmerman Horror show party from 2011

I was at the NOW WOW party in Rotterdam. I expected it to be very awesome after watching the trailer of the last edition. I was waiting of lots of things to do, experience, lots of cool costumes and dancing people...

After entering I noticed that not so many people had dressed up, only like 1/4 or so, they actually didn't check at all the dress code so there was lot of people walking in jeans and t-shirt. There was quite a lot of people but lot of them just stood and drank beer and were chatting. Luckily there was three different areas; two bigger stages and basement where they were playing harder dance music. In the big podium they had built this sort of staircase where were changing dancers, first people with black and white swimming suits and facepaint, then some girls with black and white dresses and later on, which were the nicest extra tall (made with mannequin heads on top of the shoulders) dancers. But mostly the background dancers were bit floating around, and at one point, well it was late (but still you are a dancer!) they were mostly just hanging at the staircase.

That was kind a the only visual thing you had there, together with some videos they played on the side, which were quite camp, but well it was also called TRASH-TV. And on the other side of the room a massive picture of a vagina hanging from the wall. Which was bit blaf.

Music in the beginning was bit dull. But the nicest music came just at the two last hours of the party, from 06.00-08.00 with the people who played at basement and Benny Rodriguez who kinda saved the music upstairs. But was left thinking who was the so announced international star guest, it never really got clear to me. So it was also bit like mwah.

I really waited for more visual things, now they played with the same card the whole evening, bit this camp-circus like. Trying to be bit provocative, but failing in it. There was not really so many things the guests could do/experience like in Sencity which was awesome! But NOW & WOW will get a new name from me: NOW & MWAH. Was oke, but expected so much more from it, more extravaganza and crazier! I will link the after movie here when it will come online!

But it was a very nice feeling to go out of Maassilo and walk in the morning sunshine!

The Speech

Saw a beautiful dance solo in the weekend, and this speech was used in it. It's the speech from "The great dictator" by Charlie Chaplin. It was combined together with the song "Window" by The Album leaf from the album "In a safe place".

Watch, listen and share!

Charlie Chaplin - "The Great Dictator" - Final Speech (video montage)

Here's the original only speech part without the music in behind

And here is the original song: The album leaf - "Window"

"We all want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.

The way of life can be free and beautiful."

Wicked game

Heard this yesterday at a cafe of a theater. And oh, it's such a cool song. Get this feeling of travelling in the night time when I hear this. Such a classic!

Susanne Sundfør - behind "White Foxes"

Found a great short interview of Susanne Sundfør. It's about making the song "White Foxes". And there is most beautiful acoustic version of the song in the interview. It's just stunningly beautiful! It would be awesome to have it together as a extra song on the album!

"It's like you go on a journey and something exiting happens.."
-Susanne Sundfør about making music-

And a great "Kontorkonsert" with Susanne Sundfør

Perhaps perhaps perhaps

What there is to say? Perhaps perhaps perhaps...

Doris Day - "Perhaps perhaps perhaps"

"Perhaps perhaps perhaps Gregg Morrish's Short and Curly remix"

But the original and best version is by Celia Cruz!

Celia Cruz - "Quizaz, Quizaz, Quizaz"

"You won't admit you love me
And so how am I ever to know?
You always tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

A million times I've asked you,
And then I ask you over again
You only answer
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
And I don't wanna wind up
Being parted, broken-hearted

So if you really love me
Say yes, but if you don't dear, confess
And please don't tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps"
